Fabien's Versions

• Version 2.1 for Windows (and source): fruit_21.zip

• Kurt Utzinger and Rolf Bühler have some test results for Fruit 2.1 and Fruit 2.2.1.

Derivatives of Fruit 2.1

• Toga II is a derivative created by Thomas Gaksch. It has more chess knowledge and perhaps a better search algorithm. I believe the latest version (1.3 X 4) on the site violates Fruit's GPL license by not including "the scripts used to control compilation and installation of the executable" (i.e. the original Fruit makefile has been removed). More seriously, the engine tries to load a DLL but the source for it is not provided. I've made a package based on the 1.3X4 release that removes the need for the DLL and restores the makefile. I've tested it on my AMD64 Linux machine and it seems to work.
• GambitFruit is a derivative created by Ryan Benitez. It playes with a more aggressive style and has more chess knowledge. GambitFruit also incorporates improvements from Toga II. Ryan joined the commercial Fruit team in December 2005.
